- ___________!
-
- Screen-Artist is a GEM screen saver. Under single-TOS it does not work in
- TOS mode (while a TOS/TTP program is running). This effect is being caused
- by Screen-Artist's use of the "evnt_multi()" AES functions to check the
- machine activity rather than the more problematic VBL routines.
-
- Clicking on the CLOSER button of the dialog window or pressing the RETURN
- key causes the same effect as selecting the >INSTALL< icon.
-
- Holding down both shift keys during the boot process will prevent the
- installation of Screen-Artist (not available under MiNT).
-
- The Screen-Artist accessory will not load if the Screen-Artist cookie has
- not been installed by the \AUTO\ARTSEVNT.PRG program or if the current
- video mode is not supported (monochrome or under 640x400).
-
- Screen-Artist will not run a selected module if there is not enough free
- RAM available.
-
-
- Known problems:
-
- - Under Multitasking systems:
- redraw problem of the main dialog box if it is
- moved in background mode.
-
- - Under Single TOS/WINX:
- redraw problem of the main dialog box if it is
- moved in background mode or if it is being moved
- outside the left screen border. *Solution*: switch
- off the [L1] and [L11] flags in the WINX.INF file.
- (syntax: S_ARTIST = 1- 11- )

- Installation |
- and |
- Use |
- |
- ___________!
-
- Copy the ARTSEVNT.PRG program into your \AUTO\ folder, S_ARTIST.ACC
- and S_ARTIST.RSC (choosen from the right folder - MagiC or TOS - depend of
- wich system you use) into the root (boot) directory of your hard disk.
- Reboot your computer.
-
- ARTSEVNT.PRG installs a cookie (ARTS) in the cookie jar and checks for
- mouse/keyboard events. If no keyboard/mouse event occurs within a
- specified amount of time, Screen-Artist starts the last selected module.
- If you have not yet selected a module or in the event that there is
- no S_ARTIST.INF file available, Screen-Artist starts with these defaults:
- SCREEN-ARTIST module, 5 minute delay timer.
-
- The S_ARTIST.INF file can be created by pressing the >Save< button (in the
- >Setup< dialog) to save your choosen module, the delay time, the string
- from the 'Message' module, etc. The >Install< icon simply installs the
- module and does not save any parameters.
-
- Select the >Setup< icon to:
-
- - turn Screen-Artist on or off and delay before to start in minute.
-
- - choose the Screen-Artist color palette (ON) or the system palette (OFF).
-
- - some Screen-Artist modules use sound effects if the 'Sound' option is
- enabled.
-
- - Multitasking: let others applications/process to run while the screen
- saver is active: this may cause other applications to write informations
- on the screen during Screen-Artist screen activity but it doesn't
- "freeze" (temporary) the other process.
- If this option is disabled Screen-Artist uses 'wind_update(BEG_UPDATE)'
- before and 'wind_update(END_UPDATE)' after execution of a module to
- prevent other applications from writing information on the screen during
- Screen-Artist screen activity: this may cause an update (delay) of all
- active windows when a Screen-Artist module finishes.
-
- - enable the 'prevent sleep mode' (if the mouse is being moved to the
- lower right screen corner position).
